By Princess Aladegoroye September 29th,2026 LAGOS CORRESPONDENTS’ CHAPEL PRESENTS AWARD OF RECOGNITION TO GHANA CONSULATE The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos, has presented an Award of Recognition to the Consulate-General of the Republic of Ghana in Lagos in recognition of its contribution to strengthening diplomatic relations, cultural understanding and effective engagement with the media.
The Award presentation was made during a visit to the Ghana Consulate by the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Comrade Abraham Akpabio, alongside Princess Temitope Aladegoroye, Media Relations Officer of the Chapel.
The Award was received on behalf of the Ghana Consulate-General by the Head of Chancery, Mrs. Barbara Entee, who expressed appreciation to the Correspondents’ Chapel for the recognition and for its commitment to fostering constructive media engagement.
The presentation further highlighted the importance of the media in promoting understanding and strengthening relationships between Nigeria and Ghana. The Ghana Consulate-General in Lagos plays a key role in coordinating and promoting Ghana’s interests in Nigeria, including consular, trade, investment and socio-economic engagement. Speaking during the presentation, the leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a professional relationship with diplomatic missions and institutions while promoting responsible journalism and accurate reporting. The visit also builds on the Chapel’s earlier engagement with the Ghana Consulate, during which the leadership stressed the importance of Ghana and Nigeria’s longstanding relationship and the need for stronger cooperation between the media and diplomatic institutions. The presentation of the Award was therefore not only a moment of recognition but also a reaffirmation of the shared commitment to professional media engagement, cultural exchange, mutual understanding and stronger Nigeria-Ghana relations. The Correspondents’ Chapel, NUJ Lagos, commends the Ghana Consulate-General for its continued openness to media engagement and looks forward to deeper collaboration in the interest of both nations.
