 By Princess Aladegoroye  Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress after winning the party’s primary election held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the APC Secretariat in Acme, Ogba, Lagos.  The primary election was conducted across the 245 wards in the 20 Local Government Areas of Lagos State and was described by party officials as peaceful, transparent, and orderly. The election committee chairman and returning officer, retired General Jon Temlong, officially announced the result before party leaders, stakeholders, lawmakers, and members of the APC.  Dr. Hamzat secured a landslide victory with 657,917 votes out of the 657,974 accredited votes cast during the primary election.
