The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, honoured DSP Emmanuel Olaifa RTD, for his service to the Nation

By Princess Aladegoroye September 28th,2026 The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has honoured DSP Emmanuel Olaifa RTD,and other personnel for their dedication, professionalism and outstanding contributions to the Nigeria Police Force. The commendation formed part of the Commissioner of Police’s Commendation and Awards Ceremony, held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at the Police Officers’ Mess, Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta. A total of 39 officers, comprising five retired and 34 serving personnel, were recognised at the ceremony for their distinguished service and commitment to duty. Among the retired officers honoured was Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Emmanuel Olaifa (Rtd.), the immediate past Second-in-Command of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, who retired in May 2026 after 35 years of active service in the Nigeria Police Force. Presenting the certificates of commendation, CP Ojajuni described the retired officers as patriotic and loyal police personnel who distinguished themselves through dedication, sacrifice and commitment to national service.
The Commissioner noted that a career spanning 35 years in the Police Force was a significant achievement, given the risks, pressure and demanding nature of police work. “It is not easy to serve for 35 years. Police work is an onerous task. It is full of anxiety and stress. “For you to weather the storm, to put in your best to serve your country diligently, you cannot just go home like that. “We have to bring you back to show appreciation to you, to honour you,” Ojajuni said. He explained that the recognition was designed not only to appreciate the contributions of retired personnel but also to encourage serving officers to remain committed to professionalism and excellence, knowing that their efforts would be remembered and recognised. Olaifa’s 35-Year Police Career Born in 1970 in Ilale, Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State, DSP Olaifa joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 1, 1991, after his early education at LSMB Primary School and Anglican Grammar School, Ilale. He subsequently underwent police training at the Police Training School, Ilorin, before beginning a career that took him through several formations and commands across Nigeria. Olaifa served in Ilorin, Kafanchan, Lagos, Abuja, Imo and Abeokuta, among other locations. He also served as Area Crime Officer at Oke-Ilewo before becoming the Second-in-Command of the SWAT Unit at Magbon, Abeokuta.
Reflecting on the honour, Olaifa expressed appreciation to CP Bode Ojajuni and the Ogun State Police Command, describing the recognition as a humbling moment. He described the Commissioner as a worthy leader who demonstrates respect for human dignity and honour in the discharge of his official responsibilities. Other Retired Officers Honoured Other retired officers recognised at the ceremony included CSP Salami Akanbi Moruf (Rtd.), former Commander of SWAT; DSP Ayanlola Olatunji (Rtd.), former Officer-in-Charge of SIT-REP; DST Saanu John (Rtd.); and DST Anifa Bello (Rtd.). The ceremony also recognised 34 serving officers for distinguished performance and commitment to duty.
CP Ojajuni further acknowledged the sacrifices made by the families of the retired officers, noting that families also shared the burden and challenges associated with long years of police service. Speaking on behalf of the retired officers, CSP Salami Akanbi Moruf expressed gratitude to the Commissioner and the Command for remembering and celebrating their contributions. He described CP Ojajuni as a father, mentor and caregiver, while assuring the Command that although they had retired from active service, they remained willing to contribute to the Police Force and the nation whenever their services were required. The event underscored the importance of recognising institutional experience and rewarding dedication, while sending a message to serving personnel that commitment to duty and professional service remain valued within the Nigeria Police Force.
