NUJ LAGOS, CORRESPONDENT'S CHAPEL CONCLUDES THEIR PRESS WEEK WITH A THANKSGIVING SERVICE AT DIVINE MOUNT ZION CHURCH OF GOD

NUJ Lagos Correspondents Chapel Holds Thanksgiving Service
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, Correspondents' Chapel, concluded its successful Press Week celebration with a colourful Thanksgiving Service held at the Divine Mount Zion Church of God, Lagos.
The service brought together members of the Chapel, media practitioners, church leaders, families, friends, and well-wishers in an atmosphere of gratitude and worship, as participants offered heartfelt thanksgiving to God for a successful Press Week and for His continued guidance and protection over journalists in the discharge of their professional responsibilities.
The congregation was encouraged through inspiring hymns, fervent prayers, and a pow
erful sermon that emphasized the importance of integrity, truth, courage, and service to humanity—qualities that remain the foundation of responsible journalism.
Speaking during the service, the chairman of the Correspondents' Chapel , Mr.Apabio Abraham expressed profound appreciation to God for granting the union a peaceful and impactful Press Week, which featured intellectual engagements, networking opportunities, recognition of distinguished personalities, and the celebration of excellence within the media profession.
A major highlight of the thanksgiving service was the presentation of an Appreciation Plaque to the Bishop of Divine Mount Zion Church of God in recognition of his unwavering spiritual support, commitment to nation-building, and consistent prayers for journalists and the media profession.
Presenting the plaque on behalf of the Chapel, the leadership of the NUJ Lagos Correspondents' Chapel described the Bishop as a humble servant of God whose exemplary leadership, dedication to the advancement of moral values, and encouragement of truth and justice have continued to inspire many within and outside the Christian community.
The Bishop, while receiving the honour, expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the Correspondents' Chapel for the recognition. He commended journalists for their invaluable role in promoting democracy, accountability, and national development, urging media professionals to remain steadfast in upholding ethical standards, factual reporting, and balanced journalism despite the challenges facing the profession.
He further offered prayers for divine wisdom, protection, and greater accomplishments for all journalists, asking God to continue to strengthen them as they carry out their constitutional responsibility of informing, educating, and enlightening society.
The thanksgiving service served as a fitting conclusion to the 2026 NUJ Lagos Correspondents' Chapel Press Week, reflecting the Chapel's commitment not only to professional excellence but also to spiritual renewal, unity, and appreciation of individuals who continue to support the journalism profession.
Members of the Chapel described the service as uplifting and inspiring, reaffirming their collective resolve to promote responsible journalism, uphold the ethics of the profession, and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
