Eric Musiliu Shanu Bags NUJ Correspondents' Chapel Outstanding Humanitarian Media Award

The Nigerian Union of Journalists, Correspondent's  chapel,Lagos honours Mr. Eric Shanu in a loud ovation.



The Renowned humanitarian and media advocate, Mr. Eric Musiliu Shanu, has been honoured with the prestigious Outstanding Humanitarian Media Award by the Nigeria Union of Journalists in recognition of his exceptional contributions to humanitarian service, media development, and community empowerment.


The award was presented during the Chapel's 2026 Press Week and Awards Ceremony in Lagos, an event that celebrated distinguished Nigerians whose commitment to nation-building, social development, and public service continues to inspire others. The programme, which attracted leading journalists, public officials, corporate executives, and civil society leaders, underscored the vital role of responsible leadership and humanitarian service in national development.



Mr. Eric Shanu was recognised for his unwavering dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable people through numerous humanitarian initiatives that have positively impacted communities across Nigeria. His interventions in education, youth empowerment, welfare support, and community development have earned him widespread respect as a compassionate leader whose actions consistently reflect a genuine commitment to service.


Presenting the award, the leadership of the NUJ Correspondents' Chapel described Mr. Shanu as an individual whose humanitarian activities have transcended philanthropy by creating lasting opportunities and hope for countless individuals. The Chapel noted that his support for media development and community-focused initiatives exemplifies the ideals of responsible citizenship and social responsibility.



Receiving the award, Miss Adedoyin Shanu ,who is the author and publisher of the best selling book "TOLA THE BULLY" and the daughter of the Awardee expressed profound appreciation to the Correspondents' Chapel for finding her dad worthy of the honour. She dedicated the recognition to everyone who has partnered with him in advancing humanitarian causes and reaffirmed his commitment to expanding initiatives that promote human dignity, education, youth development, and sustainable community growth.
