Building a safer Nigeria: Tochlight Africa safety summit 2026 Recognised Public safety Heroes

Nigeria's foremost security stakeholders, policymakers, law enforcement agencies, corporate organisations and community leaders gather at the Tochlight Africa Safety Summit and Awards 2026 and strengthen strategic partnerships aimed at tackling the nation's evolving security challenges.

Organised by Thetochlightafricac.com, the summit hold on Thursday, July 30, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at the NERDC Conference Hall, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State.

Themed "Securing Nigeria's Future: Building Strategic Alliances Against Evolving Threats," the summi provide a robust platform for dialogue on addressing terrorism, kidnapping, cybercrime, banditry, piracy, organised crime, communal conflicts and other emerging security threats through stronger collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, the private sector and local communities.

Participants explore practical solutions for improving intelligence gathering, joint operations, border security, cybersecurity, community policing, public-private partnerships and regional cooperation. The summit examine the underlying causes of insecurity, including poverty, youth unemployment, poor family orientation, religious extremism, social media influence, political violence and the growing involvement of vulnerable youths in criminal activities.

Experts are expected to advocate stronger family values, effective educational and religious guidance, youth empowerment, poverty reduction programmes, professionalism among security agencies and renewed patriotism as critical ingredients for sustainable peace and national development.

Panel Session

The major highlights of the summit is was high-level panel discussion featuring respected security and public safety professionals who provide practical insights on collaborative approaches to combating emerging security threats.

Comrade Babatunde Raji – Metropolitan Guard and Enterprise Ltd.

Prof. Temitope Odubela – Commander, Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) Anti-Robbery Unit, Lagos State

ACN Olagoke Balogun – Commander, NDLEA, Maryland/Mende Command, Ikeja

The panel session focus on strengthening inter-agency collaboration, intelligence sharing, community engagement, crime prevention strategies, drug control, public safety advocacy and building strategic partnerships to secure Nigeria's future.

Tochlight Africa Safety Awards 2026

Another major highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to individuals and organisations that have distinguished themselves through exceptional service in crime prevention, public safety, corporate responsibility and community development.

CSP Balogun Gboyega, Divisional Police Officer, Iponri Division – Crime Prevention and Safety Award

CSP Cirman Sunday, Commander, Anti-Robbery Unit, Lagos State Police Command – Champion of Peace and Public Safety Award

CSP Bello Mumini Ajao, Commander, Tactical Squad, Area P Oloota Base, Lagos State – Crime Prevention and Safety Award

ACN Olagoke Balogun, Commander, NDLEA Maryland/Mende Command, Ikeja – Public Safety and Drug Control Excellence Award

Mr. Adebowale Shakiru, RSG Secured Resilient Guard, Lagos State – Public Safety and Peacekeeping Award

The Correspondent's chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Lagos State chapter, was there to honour  the organiser , some of the journalist present there were  Princess Aladegoroye, Executive Director, Nubia Africa TV, Abraham Apabio, Chairman Correspondent's chapel  Lagos, Steve Omo- ofozor , Josuah Uloko and Adebola Isimijola , Mrs Jumoke Johnson, Chairperson NAWOJ, Lagos

Other outstanding security professionals, corporate organisations and community leaders who have demonstrated remarkable commitment to public safety, peacebuilding and national development was also honoured during the ceremony.

According to the organisers, security remains everyone's responsibility and can only be sustained through cooperation among government institutions, security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, the private sector and citizens. They stressed that lasting peace and sustainable economic development can only thrive in a secure environment.

The Tochlight Africa Safety Summit and Awards 2026 i attract top government officials, security chiefs, corporate executives, policymakers, traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society organisations and members of the media, all committed to building a safer, stronger and more resilient Nigeria through strategic partnerships and collective action.
