Integrated Wellness and Educational Conference Holds in Lagos, Calls for Stronger Collaboration Between Health and Education Sectors
Stakeholders from Nigeria’s education and health sectors converged in Lagos on Thursday, May 21, 2026, for the Integrated Wellness and Educational Conference organised by Global Affairs Magazine, in a landmark gathering aimed at promoting the physical, mental, and educational well-being of students across the country.
The conference, which attracted school administrators, healthcare professionals, policy advocates, teachers, parents, and students from various secondary schools and tertiary institutions, focused on the urgent need to integrate wellness programmes into the educational system to ensure the development of healthier and more productive students.

Held in Lagos, the event created a platform for debate, meaningful discussions on issues affecting young people in schools, including mental health awareness, environmental hygiene, emotional intelligence, nutrition, personal development, academic excellence, and the role of government and private institutions in supporting quality education and healthy living.
In her opening remarks, the publisher Global Affairs Magazine described the conference as a timely intervention designed to bridge the gap between education and healthcare while empowering students with knowledge capable of transforming their future.

According to the organisers, the modern educational environment must go beyond classroom teaching by placing equal emphasis on the wellness and emotional stability of learners.

“The future of any nation depends largely on the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of its young people. Education and health are inseparable pillars of national development, and this conference is designed to encourage stronger collaboration among stakeholders,” the organisers stated.

The conference featured several keynote presentations delivered by experts from the health and education sectors, who stressed the importance of creating safer and healthier school environments.

Health professionals at the event educated students on preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyle choices, hygiene practices, nutrition, stress management, and the dangers of substance abuse among youths. They also encouraged students to prioritise regular medical checkups and maintain healthy habits capable of improving their academic performance and personal lives.

Education stakeholders, on the other hand, highlighted the growing need for schools to adopt holistic learning systems that support not only academic success but also character development, emotional wellness, and social responsibility.

Speakers at the conference noted that many students face emotional and psychological pressures arising from academic stress, peer influence, social media exposure, and economic challenges, stressing that schools must begin to provide guidance structures that support students’ mental health and confidence.

Students from different schools actively participated in panel discussions, question-and-answer sessions, wellness exercises, and educational interactions that made the programme highly engaging and impactful.

Many of the participating students described the conference as enlightening and inspiring, stating that the knowledge gained would help them make better decisions concerning their health, studies, and future ambitions.

Teachers and school administrators who attended the programme also commended the organisers for initiating a conference that directly addresses the challenges confronting young people in contemporary society.

They called for regular collaborations between educational institutions, healthcare organisations, government agencies, and the private sector to sustain awareness campaigns and wellness programmes within schools.

The event further served as a networking platform where professionals from different sectors exchanged ideas and discussed practical strategies for improving student welfare and educational outcomes in Nigeria.

Observers at the conference noted that programmes such as the Integrated Wellness and Educational Conference remain essential in shaping responsible, healthy, and informed future leaders, especially at a time when mental health and youth development have become major global concerns.

As the conference came to a close, participants expressed optimism that the conversations and resolutions reached during the programme would inspire long-term actions capable of positively transforming the nation’s educational and healthcare systems.

The organisers reaffirmed their commitment to continuing advocacy and developmental initiatives that promote youth empowerment, quality education, healthy living, and national progress
