OLOKUN is an orisha in the Yoruba mythological believe and traditional religion. Olokun is a spirit or deity,the Yoruba religion is a nature-based tradition that believes in one singular source called OLORUN or OLODUNMARE. The orishas are the various manifestations of the different aspects of OLORUN-OLODUNMARE across the natural world. Olokun is the first Orisha created by OLODUNMARE,when the earth was covered with water. Olokun is very old and ancient. Olokun is generally referred to as male or female or both, and sometimes neither,androgynous, i wish to address her as female because of the characteristics she possesses are more stronger than the other. Who is OLOKUN?.... Olokun derive her name from two words which are(OLO) meaning owner and OKUN meaning (OCEAN). Therefore Olokun is the owner of the Dark deep ocean where life comes from.She is the Dark Moon Goddess of Death and Renewal .Olokun is the poetic synonym for a natural force .She is the Goddess of all the waters and the oceans. Olokun is the keeper of secrets.Anything that falls to the bottom of the sea remain intact forevermore,never to be seen by anyone other than her and her underwater children. Olokun is believed to hold the secrets of the past,the present and future.She knows all and guard the knowledge well.It is believed by the Yoruba's that Olokun holds the secrets and the keys of what happened to their Ancestors ,mystery untold,on those fateful journeys across the Atlantic.Many died and thus entered the Realm of Olokun,which is the land of the dead-'marine-snow',for these reasons the people of African descent still pour and offer liberation to Olokun for she knows the unknown. Olokun is about the dissolving of boundaries so that all becomes one. Alhough on a quantum level we are one with the universe .Olokun is the Goddess of reigns,the ego-less deep sea of our unconsciousness,both within our selves and on a collective level. Olokun is believed to be the parent of AJE ,the Orisha of great wealth and abundance of the bottom of the ocean. Olokun is revered as the ruler of all bodies of waters and for the authority over other water deities. Olokun is highly reverend for her ability to give great wealth,health and prosperity.to his followers and children. Olokun is all knowing,she is the keeper of wisdom,and divination.She is the Goddess of the unknown,the Darkness,the Realm of Dreams, and unconsciousness.Its cold and dark nature being the perfect environment for the suspended animation of spirits. Olokun is also the goddess of Rebirth and Renewal.New lives spring at the bottom of the deep sea from her Dark watery and incredibly adaptive ecosystem.One of the animals that symbolize olokun is the mudfish,an amphibian that burrows deep into the mud to survive dry season. Olokun is also linked to the red coral,a beautiful red gem -like colony of tiny animals that are joined together through the skeletons of their dead Ancestors. As corals grow they form reefs which purify the water ,provides shelter for other sea creatures and encourage the growth of wildlife habitats beneath the sea. Olokun is the owner of all fluid waters,every river,sea,stream and lake comes down ashore to Olokun. All waters return to the sorce,which is the sea .Olokun is the Matron/Patron of all waters. ALAGBALUBU  OMI-OKUN...The mighty ocean is the cradle of earth..

DREAMS---They are good prophets, they communicate well with human as well as the dead.They see more than the ordinary eye for the ocean is crystal. They remember their dreams..

MORAL----They have high self esteem, high moral standard, book warm,intelligent,very analytical.
